Fedor Jeftichew, better known as Jo-Jo the Dog-Faced Man, was one of the most famous freaks to perform in American circuses at the end of the Nineteenth Century. Born in Russia and suffering from hypetrichosis since birth, Jo-Jo soon became one of the main attractions of the Barnum Circus, where he was exhibited as a savage communicating only through lugubrious barks.
In this rare Italian promotional postcard, Jo-Jo is represented like an unconvincing “griffon-man” by his manager Nick Forster.
