Eye colour chart by Dr. Martin and Dr. Saller (Germany, c. 1925)
The Martin-Saller colour chart, developed by anthropologist Rudolf Martin at the end of the nineteenth century, was used in anthropology to catalogue the eye colour of a person. The chart consists of 20 colours (from light blue to black) corresponding to the different shades of the human iris.
This type of scheme was used in racial researches and experiments with the aim of promoting the Nazi ideology, the differences between races and the Aryan classification.
