#MIRABILIA

photos by Simona De Pascalis

At the beginning of the Twentieth century an unlucky cyclist was ran over by a tram but he miraculously didn’t get hurt. At first sight, the nun in the foreground happened to pass by for a fortuitous coincidence. She is in fact Saint Catherine of Siena (as shown by the clothes of the Dominican order and the branch of white lily that she holds in her hands), who interceded with the Virgin Mary asking for a miracle. What makes the scene naive and in some ways even more realistic are the misspellings on the signs of the two trams in Turin.
